The health and wellbeing of our students, staff and partners is always our top priority. We are closely monitoring the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation as it unfolds and are continuing to adapt, following the guidance issued by the government and health authorities to help keep everyone as safe as possible.

Employers with existing apprentices:

Barnsley College and Independent Training Services Ltd./SmartStyle Training Ltd. (ITS) are committed to ensuring that our students and learners continue their education. Therefore, we will continue to support all our employers and apprentices with an online delivery model.

This means that the 20% off the job training will still need to continue to allow apprentices to continue with their apprenticeship standard.

Our trainers will continue to work with apprentices, this will happen remotely via online platforms and telephone. Should this change, the College/ITS will communicate with the employer and apprentice directly.

End Point Assessments are currently on hold and any amendments will be coordinated and communicated by the apprentice’s trainer.

If an End Point Assessment is already planned, then arrangements will be discussed and verified by the apprentice’s trainer on an individualised basis.

Employers who are in the enrolment process:

Barnsley College/ITS will continue to support employers. Those who are in the process of enrolling an apprentice can continue to do so via our online enrolment process. This will allow both the employer and the apprentice to complete the process remotely.

Barnsley College/ITS staff who are assigned to the apprentice will contact the employer via email from Monday 23 March 2020 and they will provide guidance and support during this process and beyond.

We appreciate that this decision may cause uncertainty and inconvenience. However, the personal safety of students and staff, and of those closest to them, is of utmost importance. Our website (www.barnsley.ac.uk/www.ind-training.co.uk) and social media channels will be updated with the latest information.
