Those wishing to learn how to build queries and create and format reports within Business Objects.
By the end of the course, you will be able to create, edit and maintain queries and charts with varying complexities.
Introduction to Business Objects:
- What is Business Objects?
- The semantic layer and the querying process.
- Understanding universes, classes and objects.
- Reports/presentations blocks.
Logging into Business Objects:
- Opening existing Business Objects reports.
- Overview of the Business Objects interface and toolbars.
- Navigating reports.
Creating Queries:
- Creating reports using the wizard.
- Creating queries.
- Using the query panel.
- Creating and editing queries.
- Viewing query results and running queries.
- Saving reports.
Formatting Reports:
- Using the formatting menu and toolbar.
- Adding report titles.
- Formatting tables.
- Sorting and filtering data.
- Inserting pictures.
Query Conditions:
- What is a condition?
- Creating custom conditions.
- Using simple and logical operators.
- Working with “matches pattern” and wild cards.
- Setting up prompts.
Advanced Formatting:
- Using the calculator.
- Creating calculations and cross tabs.
- Adding alerts.
- Inserting breaks in data.
- Page layout options.
Working with Charts:
- Creating and editing charts.
- Converting tables and cross tabs into charts.
- Formatting charts.
Document Centricity:
- Multiple queries from one block.
- Multiple queries from one universe.
- Queries using multiple universes.
- Queries from different data sources.
This course can be delivered remotely or in a classroom environment, to suit your requirements.
Delegates must have the following equipment to attend this training remotely:
- PC or laptop with a microphone and speakers (webcam is preferred but not essential).
- Access to the internet and web browser application (e.g. Google Chrome).
- An email account for file sharing.
Attendees must be proficient with a mouse and keyboard and be able to confidently work within a Windows environment - minimise, maximise, open and close. Familiarity with either Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Access is desirable, but not essential.
