By the end of the course, you will be able to import data into Microsoft Excel using queries and manipulate the fields and tables produced.

Getting Started with Power Query:

  • Accessing power query.
  • Creating queries and connecting to data sources.
  • External data sources.
  • Producing Excel table outputs.
  • Working with the query editor.
  • Importing and loading data.

Transforming Data:

  • Managing columns.
  • Reducing rows and applying filters.
  • Transposing tables.
  • Unpivot columns.
  • Replacing values.
  • Cleansing values (text, numbers and dates).
  • Creating new columns.
  • Sorting and grouping data.

Working with the Query Editor:

  • Query step settings.
  • Editing query steps.
  • Refreshing query data.

Advanced Queries:

  • Power query formulas.
  • Modifying query functions.
  • Advanced query editing.

Multiple Data Sources and Relationships:

Course requirements

This course can be delivered remotely or in a classroom environment, to suit your requirements.

Attendees should have an advanced understanding of working with data tables to arrange and present data, including working with pivot tables and creating functions in Microsoft Excel. 

Attendees must have the following equipment to attend this training remotely:

  • PC or laptop with a microphone and speakers (webcam is preferred but not essential).
  • Access to the internet and web browser application (e.g. Google Chrome).
  • Microsoft Excel installed on the PC or laptop.
  • An email account for file sharing.
  • A second screen is ideal but not essential.
