Those who need the skills to be able to communicate their position, opinions and feelings confidently and assertively in existing, new or perhaps challenging situations.
This course investigates how to recognise different behavioural styles and the benefits of using assertive techniques when communicating and negotiating with colleagues, management and customers. During the course, you will participate in a number of practical activities, applying the techniques covered during the course.

- Your style under normal and pressure circumstances
Module Three - Understanding Behaviour:

- Turning limiting beliefs into assertive ones

- The steps to assertiveness
Module Four - Preparing to Assert Yourself:
- Verbal and non-verbal communication
- Effective use of voice and words
- Establishing rapport
Module Five - Assertive Techniques:
- Basic assertion
- Objective vs subjective
- Empathy and lead in assertiveness
- Consequence assertiveness
- Using the DESC script
- Discrepancy assertion
Module Six - Assertion in Difficult Situations:
- Handling requests
- Expressing doubts and disagreements
- Being assertive with aggressive people

- Constructive criticism
Module Seven - Adapting Your Approach:
- The four colour behavioural styles matrix
- How different behavioural styles communicate
This course can be delivered remotely or in a classroom environment, to suit your requirements.
Delegates must have the following equipment to attend this training remotely:
- PC or laptop with a microphone and speakers (webcam is preferred but not essential)
- Access to the internet and web browser application (e.g. Google Chrome)
- An email account for file sharing
