Safeguarding Adults and Children (CPD certified)
This course aims to give you the knowledge you need to understand the impact of and key issues surrounding the safeguarding of adults and children. This includes how to recognise, respond to and reduce the likelihood of abuse.

By the end of the course, you will understand the principles of safeguarding adults, how to reduce the risk of abuse and how to respond to and report abuse. You will also know the procedures to follow for safeguarding children.
- Understanding the principles of safeguarding adults:
- The main types of abuse and harm an individual may be at risk of experiencing
- The importance of being treated with dignity and respect when coming forward about a case of abuse
- Reducing the likelihood of abuse:
- The expected levels of dignity and rights within a care environment
- The importance of individualised care
- Safeguarding policies
- Managing potential risks
- Responding to suspected or disclosed abuse:
- What course of action to take if abuse of an adult is suspected
- Local whistleblowing policy procedures
- Protecting people from harm and abuse – locally and nationally:
- Possible barriers to alerting or referring relevant agencies to an alleged case of abuse
- Legislation that relates to the sharing of information
- Safeguarding children:
- Procedures to follow if a child or young person is suspected of experiencing abuse
To attend this course, students will require access to the internet and a web browser application (e.g. Google Chrome).
